I suppose today that there’s a lot of hopping going around. As in Easter Bunny hopping. But before you go back to check on my spelling, I actually did write “hoping” with only 1 p.
Today at church was such a great time. We were all reminded in many ways of the real hope that we have in Jesus because of the fact that He did not stay dead, but destroyed death by raising Himself back to life. My hope isn’t the wishful thinking sort that we use in our everyday vocabulary. Around here you will hear things like, “I really hope it doesn’t rain today.” “I really hope I can find matching socks.” ” I really hope we don’t run out of toilet paper while the stores are closed.” Much like we have distorted the word Love. ” I love you” “I love pizza” “I love it when I can find matching socks!”
No, REAL hope is only found in Jesus Christ.
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. ” 1 Peter 1:3-4 (NLT).
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost it’s grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
Here’s HOPING!
