This won't be a long post. I just wanted to post some pictures of Ben (13) from last Tuesday night. We were at a local nursing home and Ben was scheduled to speak. Even though he was nervous about it, he put together a wonderful message about Spring and new life and how the people there could receive new life in Christ and become new creations. It was well thought out and the seniors just love it when a young person talks to them.
I definitely have to thank my Mom and Dad for raising my sisters and I to go on a fairly regular basis to nursing homes to minister to and encourage older people. There's a lot of benefit from taking children to be around the elderly. It can be scary for kids at first because of the medical conditions and wheelchairs, but after a while the kids become more comfortable. Older people just LOVE kids!
If you are looking for an opportunity for ministry as a family or as a church, think about a nursing home/retirement home/ seniors living facility (I am not sure if there's a difference or what is politcally correct). Think about having the kids up front singing or even bringing a short message like Ben did. Always make sure the gospel is included as well as some encouragement for the Christians there. It's a blessing to both the residents and visitors alike!

Ben is growing up to be an amazing young man. I pray he continues to seek God first and to make an effort to be a Godly and spititual man in all the things he does.
Very proud of all he does, and he isnt even my son, cant imagine how proud and encouraged you must be sher!
Wow, that's an awesome idea! Never thought of that. It is also amazing what your doing with your kids. I pray that they grow up and be the sons and daughter that God wants them to be and bring glory to his name in whatever they're doing.
P.S. tell Ben that I said keep up the amazing work with preaching to the old folks.
