We had Gracie's 7th birthday party tonight and it was a musical theme. It was a sort of a mix of ideas all thrown together Gracie-style. For decorations she had butterflies, stars and music notes and for the kind of music played it was a mix of kids music such as 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed and I've Been Working on the Railroad and then dancing to Newsboys too.
For one of the games, the kids batted a balloon around and then when the music stopped, whoever had the balloon had to pop it and complete the lyrics of a song from the piece of paper that fell out of the balloon. We also played Freeze Dance, where they all danced around and then froze when I stopped the music.
At the end of the party, the kids all used the dollar store microphones to perform for the others and I was thrilled when Gracie chose "10,000 Reasons" by Matt Redman to perform. (She will be doing this song for special music on Sunday with Jared and Rachel)
Here are a few pics from the evening – it's just of the decor since I didn't ask permission to post pics of the kids, but it will give you a feel of the atmosphere. It was a musical night in our home. Quite a loud one! And a super fun one.
Music groups that Rach and Ben listen to and now they want the posters.
Stars, music notes and butterflies
Yummy cupcakes. Everyone wanted the ones with the mics!

Gracie sounds like a very fun party planner!
I had to hunt for those mics on the cupcakes
Sounds like you really had a good time with the kids. Beautiful song! Looking forward to hearing them perform on Sunday!
I love 10,000 Reasons! Your daughter has good taste!
What a cool party! I know Gracies was thrilled and the kids all had a great time. I think party planning could be another business for you——-if you had time! Lol
