Day 6 – Favorite Songs from Early Childhood

Today I'm just going to make a list of some of my favorite records and tapes from when I was little. And no, we didn't have CDs or Ipods back then!

My mom tells me that when I was very little I loved Mother Goose songs and stumped my Grandma when I was over her house onetime by repeadetly asking for "Ma Goo, Ma Goo!"  Apparently I was very insistent!

I also remember vividly singing along with Marcy. We had a record called The Happy Day Express.  As far as I know, she was a full-grown adult who actually had a voice that sounded like a little girl.

Then of course there was all the Psalty the Singing Songbook tapes.  Kids Praise, Kids Praise 1, Kids Praise 2 and on and on they went.  I still sing a lot of those songs to my kids now.

I remember Music Machine, Antsylvania, Bullfrogs and Butterflies, Sir Oliver's Song, Nathaniel the Grublet (Direwood — eek!)

But above all, my FAVORITE album by far was Christine Wyrtzen's Critter County!  All those cute animals singing Bible verses to the ABCs –  it was really the best way ever to learn all those verses. I still remember all the songs and all the verses.

A – Ant – "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"

B – Bee – "Bee-eee-eee -lieve on the Lord Jesus Christ… and thou shalt be saved!"

C – Cool Cats – "Casting all your cares upon Him, for He careth for you"

and on and on!   If you ever come across this gem, get it for sure!!!

This is just a small portion of the music that filled my life when I was young.  Then of course there was all the music my parents listened to as well… maybe I'll save that for another post!

Oh man–Marcy, Music Machine….we are definitely in the same generation.
And now I'll probably spend the rest of the day singing in my best Herbert the snail voice…thanks a lot! ;)

Herbert was definitely the best.  I sing that to my kids and they just look at me with this odd look on their faces. lol

Bullfrogs and butterflies, both been born again…
Wow, hadn't thought of that album in years!  Had Music Machine too!

lots of good times & so many of my childhood memories have you & your family in them.
